30. The Recovery

Sean was having trouble adjusting to his new lifestyle,
it was hard for him to sit still all day and rest.

One day whilst watching TV it broke and static filled the room.

Sean being Sean promptly turned off the television
and waddled over to the set.

he enjoyed fixing it, it had been ages since he felt of
 use around the house

It wan't long before Kaylee came in and saw what he was doing
"Sean" she said

Sean put the screwdriver down and stood up quickly

"Sean what are you doing, you are supposed to be
resting your leg. it needs time to heal
 you know that?" Kaylee lectured

"I'm tired of doing nothing Kaylee, i'm not used to
all this sitting around. i need something to do" Sean complained

"I understand Sean, but you need to be patient you
will be able to do things again. you just need
to wait awhile ok?" She responded calmly

"i know, i'm sorry" Sean said

Before sitting down once again

He got up only to get something to eat

"Did you still want to go to the library today boys?" Nigel said

"Yeah i need a computer for my
assignment and ours is broken" Jovan said

Sean ate quietly and then waddled back to the couch

After about an hour there was a knock at the door

Kaylee went to answer it

It was jsut Dr Olsen coming round for Seans weekly checkup
"Hello Mrs Radford, how's he doing" Dr Olsen said

"Same old, Same old. he hates having
to sit around all day" Kaylee said "go straight through
he's on the couch"

"Hello Sean, how's the leg?" Dr Olsen asked

"Good, that medicine you put me on helps alot" Sean said

"Well it is good stuff" Dr Olsen said
"Why don't you take a seat and we can get started"

Obediently Sean did as he was told

In the meantime Nigel took the boys down to the
library as promised

The checkup didn't take long
"your leg is healing nicely Sean" Dr Olsen said

Suddenly Dr Olsen's phone rang
"Sorry Sean, i have to take this" he said quickly before answering

"Yes i will be right there, ensure that he stays
still and stays calm" Dr Olsen said

"Sorry Sean but i need to go,  just one quick thing. you might
want to think about retiring. you won't be able to play
professionally anymore so it might be a good idea
before they let you go" Dr Olsen advised

" I will think about it" Sean said

With that Dr Olsen hurried back to the hospital.
At the library Jovan and Nigel had some quality father son time.

Carl was once again talking to Lail, he couldn't wait to graduate

It was quite late when they returned and Jovan went
 straight to bed.

"How was the library Carl?" Sean asked his grandson

"It was nice to use the computer again, my trip to France
requires a lot of planning" Carl replied as he joined his
 grandfather on the couch

"Try not to get to caught up on this trip,
Focus on your studies first" Sean warned

"I know grandpa" Carl said

After talking to his grandfather a little longer Carl headed to bed.

"It was nice of you to talk to Carl about his France trip,
he seems really excited." Kaylee said

"I know he is, i just don't want to see him get hurt" Sean said

"So, i heard the Doctor talk to you about
retiring" Kaylee mentioned

"I know,  but sport is my life.
I will retire tomorrow." Sean said reluctantly

At that moment Zeke decided to jump up for a pat.

the poor little guy was tired

Soon enough the whole household was in bed.
As seems to be the norm at the Radfords, Nigel made breakfast

The whole family was up in anticipation of pancakes

including Sean as he limped to get his food

Nigel attempted to make idle chit-chat over
breakfast but the boys were running late

They had to sprint to meet the bus at the end of the street.

Zeke had some pent up energy and took it out on Issy's chair

Sean quickly intervened

The as promised Nigel dialed his work number for the last time.

Confetti flew as Sean retired from his years
of service with a nice weekly pension

Everyone cheered and clapped

In the midst of the celebrations a loud thud and
large flash shone through the Radfords windows

A Blue box appeared out of nowhere and a
 strange lady with glasses emerged

And as quickly as it appeared it dissipated
leaving no trace of it's presence

"Thanks for the lift" she yelled at the empty space

The Radfords just stood there puzzled unsure of what
to make of this sudden appearance and unsure of
what to do next.

Message from Me

  3. I'm glad to see a post from you up :) It's great to see Sean is recovering well too. Since he and Kaylee are elders now I'm always bracing for the post that has one or both of them passing. I'm just not ready for it! I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next with the Radfords now that you've brought your simself into the picture.
